At least this week is going better...knock on wood! It is also the hottest week this summer. Won't be doing any weeding this week...will try and deadhead some of the flowers. Can't believe the hollyhocks came up this year. Also found a random carrot and tomato plants in the front.
Having trouble with the sun angle at this time of day.
During 2013, I plan to take a picture of one of my garden spaces, every Tuesday at 4:00 pm. I'm always amazed at the transitions a garden goes through throughout the year, especially in Minnesota with all of our seasonal changes. I'm hoping these photos capture the beauty awesomeness of it all!

Been taking the pictures just not posting them. My bad. Will work on this.
The gardens are in full jungle mode. It is amazing what came in this year especially all the random sunflowers. It's so awesome, not to mention the plants I have no clue as to what they are.
Got a ton of weeding done which I was also behind in.

Today was just the way I like my summer days. The gardens are growing oddly. This front section is not moving much at all, while other parts of my gardens are flourishing, like the partly shaded front one. It's so bizzare.
Later in the week it's suppose to get hot, so maybe that'll set off a growth spurt.

Another wet Tuesday, about the 4th in a row, but after that's years drought, this is good. Plus everything is growing and greening. Love this time of year. It's like Christmas seeing what pops out of the ground. Sometimes things grow that you never planted or planted and didn't make it or planted and you forgot you planted it. I do have some blank spaces but I'll wait a bit yet.
I'm adding an additional view to the garden photo each week.

Whew! It's been warm out! Today we could hit 100! After that long drown out winter, this has been a shift! 80's! That sun just recharges every atom in my body! Now if the plants would just wake up and get up! : ) My lawn has seem to been the hardest hit form the winter, huge sections are still brown and dead looking especially in the front. That is such a challenge because I tend to worry more about the back, because that's where I spend most of the time.
Bought lots of wonderful plants for the gardens at the Friend's School Plant Sale. Can't wait to get them in the ground! Really focused on getting perennials this year.

Brrrrr. Mother Nature stop already! This spring feels like winter part II. Having to take the leaves I bagged and put them over some of the plant that are coming up. They should be hardy, but would hate them to a possible frost tonight. Last year really spoiled us. By this time, all gardens were planted and everything things looked like it normally does in June.

Tuesday 18
What a wonderfully magical weekend of warm weather... 70 and 80's! After a some rain today the gardens are pushing forth new growths. I can't wait to see what appears and what will grow better after being planted last year. I have to remind myself to patient, that some things take a lot longer to start growing.
1 1/2 weeks until the big plant sale at the fair grounds... I will do better this year in planning what I need prior to going. This sale can be like going to Target for just one thing and leaving with a basket full (I'm single so I rarely use a cart :)
Instead of starting any new garden beds this year, I'm going to just focus on beautifying my existing gardens.

Tuesday 17
We woke up to another snow storm this morning. I have to admit it was so beautiful. The best part was it had almost all melted by the end of the day. I'm seeing more signs of spring, the tulips, the chives, and a few others that I forgot the names for. I'm hoping and pretty confident this is the last of the major snow and with upper 60's predicted for the weekend, things should really start changing over now. I'm hoping to really be able to clean out the old plants this weekend and start planning what needs to be added.

Tuesday 16
It was nice to see the tulips popping up and a few other bulb plants that I had in a planter coming up. I forgot to plant them in the ground, so what a fun surprise to see them coming up in the planter that was in the garage.
Also a few of the cannas bulbs in the basement are starting to grow.
It amazes me how they how to do that at this time. Last year, they started in March and we had an early Spring. This year, we are having a later Spring and the are starting to grow later as well. Amazing.

Tuesday 14
I did miss last Tuesday due to my sister being in the hospital for a fifth collapsing of her lung... Family beats blog (plus I got to hang with my 3+ month old nieces!). Though on Wednesday the garden looks pretty much as it does today. Bare and brown, but that is awesome. I need to look far another view to add to this one.
Rumor has it winter is NOT ready to give up! I hope they are wrong.

Dreary day outside. After all that snow last Tuesday and the rain this weekend, the snow is steadily leaving again. Fingers crossed for no more big snow showers...Missing green.

Tuesday 10
It was such a shocker this morning to wake up to all that extra snow! Even though we new it was predicted, the mere site of it just set my heart to deflate a bit. By the time of the picture, it had snowed 9 - 10". I'm just grateful that the sun is getting stronger and it melts a bit faster on the surfaces! I think the tough part is that at this time last year it was sunny, 60 degrees and no snow. A bit odd, but wonderful all the same.

Warm day after a slippery start at 33 and cloudy. A fresh coating of snow has made it look more snowy again.

What a chilly day! At the time of this photo it was finally +1 above after 40 hours below zero. A beautiful brisk sunny winter day.
